IPLA Board Nominations Announced

At its meeting on August 26, 2010 the IPLA Board approved the following slate of nominees for election later this fall. Per IPLA by-laws these nominations are being sent to you, the membership, in advance for your consideration.

Nominations for the IPLA Board (5 to be elected for 3 year terms)

ILF is urging you to “Take Action!” ILF has created a great one-stop shop with timely and informative pages, text, links, etc. to provide important information about the referendum for vote (Nov. 2) on property tax caps being placed into the state constitution. The site will constantly change with news and updates, so please check back regularly. IPLA will post this to our Advocacy page, so you can keep checking back.

A great time of discussion today at the Town Hall meetings

Thanks to everyone who participated at the Town Hall meetings today. Around 130 people heard Larry DeBoer’s presentation on Tax Cap effects and discussed what legislation we should focus on this fall. Here is Larry’s handout, so feel free to make copies and share with your boards and other people of interest.

Speaker Larry DeBoer, a Purdue University Ag Economics Professor, will address the group on the effects of tax caps. Larry is one of the foremost experts on the subject of property tax assessment and he can be viewed in this YouTube video.

IPLA Town Hall Registration for August 17th!!

Registration is now up by clicking on the following link. My Town Hall! New sites have been added, and will continue to be added prior to the event.

The IPLA Town Hall Meeting will focus on the effects that Tax Caps will have on Indiana libraries, and what you can do to make the public aware of the impact. Also included will be a look at the upcoming Legislative session.

The program will be held from 1 to 3 pm Eastern time and Noon to 2 pm Central time.

This meeting is important to ALL public library employees, not just directors. The program is free of charge.

The Indiana Public Library Association is an Association of the Indiana Library Federation.

Annual CYPD conference coming in August

The CYPD 2010 Annual Conference will be held at the Marriott North Indianapolis at Keystone at the Crossing on August 29-30.
